Shine Sports

Privacy policy

Last updated November 5, 2026

Shine Sports is a free test app for iPhone. It shows the day's games from every league on one timeline. This page says what the app and this website collect, why, how long it's kept, and how to ask for something to be deleted.

There are no accounts. We don't sell your information, and we don't use what the app collects for ads.

What the app collects

Opens and installs

The first time you open the app, it makes a random ID. The ID isn't connected to your name, your Apple ID or your phone number. When you open the app, at most once every four hours, it sends that ID, the app's build number and your iOS version to our server. We use this to count how many people try the app and how many come back. We keep these counts for as long as the test runs. If you delete the app and install it again, you get a new ID.

Notifications

If you turn on notifications, the app sends our server your phone's push token (a code Apple gives the app so it can send you alerts), the teams you follow and your time zone. We use them to send alerts about delayed and postponed games. Live Activities work the same way: the app sends the token for that activity and the games it shows. If you turn notifications off, the app tells our server to remove your phone. We also remove phones that haven't opened the app in 180 days, and Live Activity tokens that haven't been updated in 72 hours.

Teams and time zone, with every board request

Whether or not notifications are on, the app asks our server for each day's games and for your local channels. Those requests carry your time zone and the teams you follow, and the team list is part of the web address the app asks for. Cloudflare's request logs (see Servers and logs) record that address along with your IP address.

Feedback

When you send feedback, we receive the text and the app's version and build number. We also receive a picture and an email address, but only if you add them. The email address is there so we can write back. We don't attach your install ID or other details about your phone. The people who run Shine Sports read feedback, and the first part of each message is sent to the owner's phone as a notification. We keep it for as long as the test runs, and we'll delete yours if you ask.

ZIP code and location

You can type a Zip Code in Settings or tap Use My Location. The app uses it to find your local channels and to match the sky to where you are. Your location and ZIP code stay on your phone, with two exceptions. The app asks Apple's maps service to turn a location into a ZIP code or a ZIP code into a place name. And the app sends the ZIP code to our server to work out which local NFL games are on your channels. Our server uses it to answer and doesn't store or log it.

Shared games

When you share a game, the app uploads a picture of that game's card and a few lines of text, such as the teams and the time, to shinesports.app and makes a link. Anyone who has the link can see the picture and the text. We delete the picture, the text and the link 90 days after they're made. With each upload we also store a scrambled version of your network address, so we don't keep the address itself. It's only there to limit how many uploads one connection can make, and it's deleted with the share.

What this website collects

The home page, and one page that needs a password, use Google Analytics. It counts visits and records which pages were opened, roughly where in the world the visitor is, and the kind of device and browser. Google sets cookies or similar identifiers for this and handles the data under its own privacy policy. You can turn it off with Google's browser add-on or by blocking trackers in your browser. Shared game pages and the privacy and terms pages don't use analytics. We don't use analytics to show ads, and our pages add none of Google's advertising features.

Some pages on this website are private links. When someone opens one, we record the city and country it was opened from, the kind of device, the browser details and the time, and we keep that with a note of which link it was. We also get an email telling us it was opened. We keep these records for as long as the test runs.

If you give us your email address through this website to hear about the app, we store it with the date, your country, your browser type and a scrambled version of your network address. We use it only to write to you about Shine Sports.

Servers and logs

The app and this website run on Cloudflare. Like most hosts, Cloudflare records basic details about each request, such as the page or route, your IP address and your device type, and keeps these logs for a limited time. We use them to keep things running and to find problems.

Apple

You install the app through TestFlight, which Apple runs. Apple collects its own information about testers and may share things like crash reports and any feedback you send through TestFlight. That is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.

Who sees your information

The people who run Shine Sports, and the services that host or deliver it: Cloudflare for hosting and storage, Apple for notifications, maps and TestFlight, and Google for website analytics. We don't sell your information. We share it beyond that only if the law requires it.

Asking us to delete or correct something

Email legal@shinesports.app. The app has no accounts, so we can't tell which install ID is yours. Tell us what you sent, such as the feedback you wrote or the email address you used, and we'll find it and delete it. Deleting the app stops it from sending anything new.

Children

Shine Sports isn't made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has sent us something, email legal@shinesports.app and we'll delete it.

Changes

This is a test version, and this policy will change as the app does. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
